Custom branding options

Last updated 18 Apr 2026

Gifts Gulf offers ten branding methods: screen printing, embroidery, DTG, heat transfer, laser engraving, pad printing, sublimation, UV printing, debossing, and foil stamping. The right one depends on your material, artwork complexity, and order size โ€” this guide breaks down when to use each.

  1. 1. Match the method to your material

Fabric goods (apparel, tote bags, caps) generally take embroidery, screen printing, DTG, or heat transfer well. Hard goods (drinkware, pens, tech accessories, keyrings) usually need laser engraving, pad printing, or UV printing instead โ€” screen printing and embroidery don't apply to metal, glass, or plastic surfaces.

Leather and premium paper goods (journals, portfolios) typically take debossing or foil stamping best, since both methods press or stamp rather than print, giving a more premium finish than ink on these materials.

  2. 2. Consider your artwork complexity

Simple, single-colour logos are cheap and fast across almost every method. Full-colour, photographic, or gradient artwork narrows your options โ€” DTG, sublimation, and UV printing all reproduce full-colour detail well; screen printing and pad printing get expensive fast once you're past 3-4 colours, since each colour needs its own setup.

  3. 3. Factor in order size

Screen printing and pad printing have a fixed setup cost per colour, so they get cheaper per unit as quantity rises โ€” ideal for large runs of a simple design. Digital methods (DTG, UV printing, sublimation) have little to no setup cost, so they're more cost-effective for smaller runs or designs that vary between recipients (e.g. personalised names).

  4. 4. Prepare the right artwork file

Vector formats โ€” AI, EPS, PDF, or SVG โ€” produce the cleanest result across every method, especially for embroidery (which needs a digitised stitch file we can generate from your vector art) and laser engraving (which needs crisp edges). A raster file (PNG, JPG) at 300 DPI or higher works for most methods, but fine detail or single-line logos need vector to print cleanly.

  5. 5. Check colour-matching requirements

If your brand guidelines specify exact Pantone references, tell us upfront โ€” we match Pantone within ยฑ10% variance by default on most methods, which is invisible to most eyes but may matter for strict brand compliance. Exact Pantone matching is available on screen printing and pad printing for an additional setup fee.

  6. 6. Review the proof before committing

Every customized order gets a digital proof showing your artwork exactly as it will print โ€” colour, placement, and scale. This is the moment to catch issues, since production begins the moment you approve it and changes aren't possible afterward.

  7. 7. Budget setup costs into your quote

Setup fees vary by method and colour count, and they're a one-time cost that doesn't recur on repeat orders using the same artwork โ€” worth knowing if you're planning to reorder the same design later in the year. Ask your quote to break out setup vs per-unit cost so you can compare methods apples-to-apples.

Frequently asked questions

Which branding method is cheapest for a large order?
Screen printing or pad printing, if your design uses 1-4 colours โ€” the fixed setup cost per colour gets amortised across more units, so per-unit price drops sharply at volume.
Can you match my exact brand colour?
We match Pantone references within ยฑ10% variance by default on most methods. Exact Pantone matching is available on screen printing and pad printing for an extra setup fee.
What artwork file do I need to send?
Vector formats (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) give the cleanest results, especially for embroidery and laser engraving. A 300+ DPI PNG or JPG works for most other methods.
Can I use two different branding methods on the same product?
Yes, where the product surface allows it โ€” e.g. embroidered logo on a cap front with a printed label. Mention it in your bulk inquiry and we'll quote both together.
