Corporate Awards and Trophies in Dubai: A Buyer's Guide to Materials and Engraving
A corporate award β a trophy, plaque, or crystal piece for an employee-of-the-year, sales-milestone, or partner-recognition moment β is a different purchase from a branded gift. It's usually a single piece rather than a bulk order, the engraved wording is permanent and highly visible, and getting the material or finish wrong is a much bigger problem on a trophy displayed on someone's desk for years than on a giveaway pen.
Material choice
Crystal and glass read as the most premium option and are the standard choice for top-tier awards (annual employee of the year, major partner or client recognition) β they take laser engraving cleanly and catch light well, but need careful packaging for delivery and display.
Acrylic is the practical middle tier β lighter, harder to damage in transit, and noticeably cheaper than crystal at a similar size, while still looking clean and modern. It's the common choice for department or team-level awards given out in higher volume.
Wood and metal plaques suit long-service and milestone-anniversary awards where a more traditional, understated look fits better than crystal's showier finish β often mounted rather than free-standing, for permanent office or reception-wall display.
Engraving and personalisation methods
Laser engraving is the standard for crystal, glass, and most metal plaques β precise, permanent, and the default method most award suppliers quote first.
UV printing handles full-colour logos and detailed graphics on acrylic or wood in a way laser engraving (which is typically monochrome, following the material's natural colour) can't β worth requesting specifically if your award needs a colour logo rather than just text.
Sandblasting suits larger wood or stone plaques where a deeper, more tactile engraved finish is wanted β less common for desk-sized awards, more typical for larger wall-mounted or reception-piece recognition.
Getting the wording right β check it twice
A misspelled name or wrong date on a trophy is a far more visible and awkward mistake than on any branded giveaway, and can't be quietly reprinted the way a batch of pens can β it's a single piece, often presented at an event with the recipient in the room. Confirm exact spelling, job title, and date wording directly with whoever is presenting the award, not from a spreadsheet that may already be out of date, before sending anything to production.
