Corporate Gift Ideas for GITEX 2026: Trade Show Giveaways That Get Remembered

Gifts Gulf Team 24 August 2026· 7 min read

GITEX Global 2026 takes place 7–11 December at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai — one of the largest tech and business events in the world, with exhibitors ranging from early-stage startups to global enterprises. For most of those exhibitors, branded giveaways are still part of the booth budget. The problem is that most giveaways get binned within a day of the show closing. This guide covers what actually survives past the show floor, and the ordering timeline you need to hit the date.

Why most trade-show giveaways fail

A giveaway earns its shelf space (literal or figurative) by being useful on its own, independent of the brand printed on it. If someone would throw the item away the moment they got home even with your logo removed, printing your logo on it doesn't change that outcome — it just means your brand is the one being thrown away.

The test that actually works: would a visitor use this at their own desk, in their own bag, or in their own kitchen without any connection to your company? Items that pass — a genuinely good pen, a well-made tote, a power bank that actually holds a useful charge — keep your brand in daily rotation for months. Items that fail — stress balls, cheap keychains, novelty gadgets — are landfill by the following week.

What to give at a tech/business show like GITEX

GITEX draws a tech-literate, business-travelling audience, which narrows down what's actually useful to them on the show floor and afterward:

  • Power banks and USB-C cables — genuinely the highest-utility category at any tech event; attendees are running phones and laptops all day on a show floor with limited outlets.
  • Branded tote or drawstring bags — handed out at 9am, they're what visitors use to carry every other brochure and item they collect for the rest of the day, keeping your logo visible on the show floor for hours.
  • Notebooks and pens — still the default for anyone taking notes in meetings, and cheap enough to give at volume.
  • Insulated water bottles or tumblers — a multi-day show in December in Dubai still means air-conditioned halls and long days; a reusable bottle gets used at the venue and afterward.
  • Premium items (leather portfolios, quality tech accessories) reserved for VIP meetings and pre-booked client appointments rather than mass booth handout — the scarcity is part of what makes them land as considered gifts rather than swag.

Booth swag vs. VIP client gifts — different budgets, different rules

Treat these as two separate line items, not one. Booth giveaways need to work at volume and low unit cost — budget for handing out far more than your expected footfall, since a chunk go to browsers who never become leads. VIP or client-meeting gifts are a much smaller quantity at a materially higher unit cost, chosen for the specific relationship rather than mass appeal, and usually presented rather than piled on a table.

A common split for exhibitors: 70–80% of the gifting budget on mid-cost, high-utility booth giveaways, the remainder on a short list of premium gifts for pre-scheduled VIP meetings.

Ordering timeline for a December show

Branded merchandise production adds real time on top of shipping, and December is peak season across the GCC — GITEX overlaps directly with National Day gifting demand in both the UAE (2 December) and Qatar (18 December), which puts extra pressure on factory and branding capacity in the same window.

Work backwards from the show date: allow 7–14 working days for standard branding runs once artwork is approved, plus your own internal approval time before that. For a 7 December show date, that means finalising your giveaway selection and artwork by mid-November at the latest — earlier if you want premium or made-to-order items rather than stock SKUs.
